Sint Michiel Living Lab

A Convivial Blue Commons for Curaçao and the Caribbean.

Encompassing approximately 1,100 hectares of wetlands, lagoons, dry forest, coral reefs, and historic settlement — including the coastal community of Boka Samí–Sint Michiel is simultaneously a Ramsar-designated wetland of international importance, a site of deep cultural memory, and a living community dependent on land and sea. This territory is being developed as Curaçao’s flagship Convivial Blue Commons: a real-world laboratory where conservation, education, enterprise, and governance innovations are tested, evaluated, and refined.
